cocktails in the lamp

Every year, I like many others tend to try to overhype & overdo new years eve. This year I faced the proverbial choice “Go Big or Go Home” – I decided to “Go Home” – and hosted a party in the condo.  Fiona balanced out the reaction and “Went Big” all the way up to Los Angeles where she went to a super hip bar called “Cha Cha Lounge” – even the name is very scene.

It worked out wonderfully! A quaint little celebration with a steady revolving door.  At 11:30 we poured the champagne and due to the “no cable TV situation” found a YouTube video of the 2012 -> 2013 transition that took place in London 8 hours prior. Big Ben was looking fly!  After a fabulous toast to a new year and new intentions we proceeded to do a flash back to the 90s.  We had a festive sign a long featuring the hits of our generation “Genie in a Bottle” (Christina Aguilera), “I Want it That Way” (BSB) and “Wannabe” (Spice Girls). I wonder if in 30 years, similar to our parents memories of the 60s classics such as the Beatles, we will reminisce of the profund and life altering music of Brittney Spears…? Gosh, I hope not.

day 1 – 2013

Hello and Happy 2013!

New Years Resolution #1 – be BLOG chic.

Why Blog? Well similar to going blonde back in college I occasionally resort with the mantra – “if you can’t beat em join em”

AND today in 2013, the internet is POPPIN.  Every Day “2 million blog posts are written“…. REDIC. But true.

Due mostly to my lack of facebook, “instagrannying”, and tweeting, I have been looking for a more creative and dynamic way to annotate my thoughts. The result – TANECDOTES (Get it. TAN = initials, ANECDOTES = (n) a usually short narrative of an interesting, amusing, or biographical incident. I thought cute?!)

And thus I will endeavor to begin 2013 with a more journalistic approach – which will be different as most of my brain operates like an excel spreadsheet.  The goal – “well rounded”.

Other goals for 2013:

-time management (every years resolution…)

-volunteer once a month

Happy New Year!
